On 6th December 2023 increased planning application fees will take effect.
Application fees in England will be increasing by 25% across the board, which will rise to 35% for major schemes.
‘Free go’ resubmission applications in England will also be removed. Applications that were already eligible for a free resubmission prior to the change (i.e. before 6th December 2023) will remain able to submit a free resubmission.
Application fees will rise annually, linked to inflation (and capped at 10%) every April from 2025 onwards.
The planning guarantee will mean that undetermined non-major applications (including householder developments) will be eligible to receive a refund after 16 weeks.
The standard fee for a householder application (including the Planning Portal admin fee) will rise from £270 to £322.
The current fees will be available on the Planning Portal until 17:00 on 5th December 2023.
Any applications submitted after this time will incur the new higher fee.
